1: Configuring the BlackBerry Desktop Software installation files
Configuring the BlackBerry Desktop
Software installation files
You can create and set the installation options for the Desktop Software and the optional Handheld
Software installation files for a correct installation. You can configure the Desktop Software installation
files to install different Desktop Software configurations on user computers. You can also record the
Desktop Manager to define and configure settings in the Desktop Manager application.
You can either configure the installation to enable users to interact with the installation or push a
completely silent installation. See
“Run the Desktop Software installation in silent mode” on page 12 for
more information.
Extract the installation files
1. Create an installation directory on the administration computer.
2. Click the .exe file, and then extract the installation files to the directory that you created in step 1.
3. When prompted to install the BlackBerry Desktop Software, click Cancel.
Copy the installation files to a network directory
1. Copy the installation files to a network directory.
2. If you do not want to maintain the Handheld Software in a shared software directory, create a folder
named “Device” in the network directory.
3. Add all of the required Handheld Software installation files to the Device folder that you created in
step 2.
Configure the installation options
You can remove options from the installation. For example, if users use a IBM® Lotus® Domino®
messaging and collaboration server, then remove the option to install any Microsoft® Exchange Desktop
Software settings.
